Los Angeles Region FIRST® LEGO® League (LAR FLL)
2010 Grant Information

To be eligible for these grants, teams must be located within the Los Angeles Region, which includes Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties in Southern California and must register with the Los Angeles Region as their primary region. Rockwell Collins New and Second-Year Team Support and Coach Stipends

Intended to help establish FLL teams in economically and/or socially disadvantaged schools or communities. Primary consideration will be given to teams from zip codes with median household income less than 80% of the state per city-data.com and/or teams from schools with a free/reduced meal population of 40% or more. Special consideration will be given to teams of underrepresented minorities and females and to teams from rural schools. Additional consideration will be given to teams with 5 or more student members and to teams formed through a school, non-profit organization (e.g., Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, 4H), or public center (e.g., library, community center). Grants are also available to teams that have a Rockwell Collins employee or retiree as a coach or mentor.

New Team Support covers team registration and FLL robot set (estimated cost including shipping and sales tax is $692). Second-Year support covers team registration (estimated cost is $233). New Coach Stipends of $500 and Second-Year Coach Stipends of $250 are also available.

Applications will be considered as they are submitted and are due by September 15, 2010.
